A Tb/s Indoor MIMO Optical Wireless Backhaul System Using VCSEL Arrays

In this paper, the design of a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) optical wireless communication (OWC) link based on vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) arrays is systematically carried out with aim to support data rates in excess 1 Tb/s for backhaul sixth generation (6G) indoor networks. The proposed combines direct current orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DCO-OFDM) and spatial MIMO architecture. For such an ultra-high-speed line-of-sight (LOS) OWC low divergence beams, maintaining alignment high importance. two types misalignment error between transmitter receiver are distinguished, namely, radial displacement orientation angle error, they thoroughly modeled unified analytical framework assuming Gaussian resulting generalized model (GMM). derived GMM then extended performance MIMO-OFDM system analyzed terms aggregate rate. Novel insights provided into computer simulations by studying various influential factors as beam waist, array configuration different errors, which can be used guidelines designing short range systems.
